Amy Sanchez-Martinez

Amy Sanchez-Martinez is serving District 49 as Principal at Sand Creek High School.

Sanchez-Martinez is in her 4th year as Principal and is eager to demonstrate to the Colorado Springs community that SCHS offers high quality education. She comes to D49 from District 11 where she served Mitchell High School for 18 years as assistant principal, dean of students and master teacher coaching other educators. Sanchez-Martinez completed her master's degree in organizational leadership from Regis University.

"I believe in servant leadership, and District 49's cultural compass enables me to stick to this belief, while learning new skills in a new position," shared Sanchez-Martinez. "I look forward to learning, working and leading alongside everyone in the Sand Creek and D49 community."

Sanchez-Martinez and her husband have four children. They enjoy spending time together at home and in the great outdoors.

Lance Carroll

Lance Carroll has been serving at Sand Creek High School since the 2018-2019 school year as Assistant Principal.  Both of his kids attend Sand Creek High School.  His wife, Lacy, serves as a reading interventionist at Evans Elementary School, which is also within the Sand Creek Zone.  Lance and his family enjoy serving and attending school in the local community as they have lived in the Sand Creek Zone since 2011.

"After living in the Sand Creek Zone for over ten years now," said Carroll, "The Sand Creek community is like family to me.  It is great to see students and parents when I am out in the neighborhood and surrounding community."

Lance graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences.  He received a Master of Arts degree in Intercultural Studies from Asbury and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.  

In his free time, Lance enjoys doing the incline weekly with his son, running, reading, hiking with his family, playing board games, and watching sports.

Alyssa Nicholson

Alyssa Nicholson is currently serving District 49 as an Assistant Principal at Sand Creek High School.

Nicholson has been at Sand Creek High School for the past 10 years, initially as a Social Studies teacher, then transitioning to the Business Department and beginning her administration career as a Teacher Leader. She earned her Bachelors of Arts in Communications from Colorado State University and her Masters from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs.

"I love being a part of Creek Nation," shared Nicholson. "I want all students to have the best high school experience and I am dedicated to student success."

Nicholson and her husband have two sons. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family.

Anna Stewart

Anna Stewart serves in District 49 as Assistant Principal at Sand Creek High School. In her position at SCHS, Stewart will take a leadership role in campus operations and logistics while supporting school-wide implementation of Jostens Renaissance. This position was previously filled by Courtney Harrell.

Stewart began her career as an educator at Banning Lewis Academy and returns to D49 having most recently served as an administrator for Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy in D11. A proud alumna of the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, Stewart holds a degree in Biology as well as a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership with a Principal Licensure.

“You can always count on me to put kids first to afford each student the best options for their future,” Stewart said. “It truly takes a village to raise the next generation of citizens, and I am thrilled to embark on this partnership with the Sand Creek High School Scorpions.”

Stewart and her husband have a daughter who attends Colorado State University in Ft. Collins. Stewart enjoys the outdoors with her friends and family, traveling, and dedicates her free time to animal rescue work.

Mario Romero

Mario Romero is currently serving in the Sand Creek community as an Assistant Principal and Activities Director. "I believe athletics and activities are the best platform for students to feel a sense of belonging in their school community. I believe in servant leadership and I am looking forward to building relationships with the students, parents, and staff in the Sand Creek Zone. I have previously served as a middle school principal at Discovery Canyon Middle School in Academy District 20 as well as Heaton Middle School in Pueblo City Schools. I was also an assistant principal at Pueblo Centennial High School in Pueblo. Before becoming an administrator, I served as a special education teacher in Harrison School District." 
 
Mario and his wife have seven children. His hobbies include spending time with his family and rooting for the Denver Nuggets and Denver Broncos.
