Sand Creek High School has the Premier Engineering Pathway in Colorado Springs, and boasts the city’s ONLY fully equipped Prototype Lab. The Lab includes over $50,000 in 3D Printing equipment, including a Builder Extreme 2000, a 3D Printer the size of a phone booth. There is a Tormach professional grade CNC Mill, as well as a 50W Laser Cutter. The purpose of the Prototype Lab is for students to have access to anything they would need to create unique and innovative solutions to Real World Problems.  The first course in the Pathway, Introduction to Engineering Design, introduces students to the Design Process, Problem Solving, Communication, and Teamwork. Students In the second course, Principles of Engineering, are introduced to many of the Engineering Fields, including Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Robotics, and Software. They will build Complex Machines, Bridges, Circuits, Robots, and more. The Final Capstone Courses allow students to research Real World Problems and then Design and Develop solutions in the Prototype Lab.  The Engineering Pathway, graduates students that are accepted into programs at schools such as the School of Mines, Stanford, the University of Colorado system, and many more. Students will have access to Articulated College Courses, GPA boosts, and in the future, Industry Certifications.
